OVERVIEW
It’s that time of year again – Volunteers Training Hui is coming up!
Volunteers Training Hui (VTH) is a three-day retreat for UN Youth Volunteers from all around the country to come together, get to know each other, learn more about the organisation, upskill, eat yum food, have fun… the list goes on!
Our volunteers are the power behind the amazing work that UN Youth achieves every year. VTH is all about giving our Volunteers the support, education and skills they need to do the best in their roles. This event will take place in Wellington from 24 - 26 November, concluding with our Annual General Meeting on 26th November.
2023 National Volunteer Awards will also be presented at VTH, with information regarding the nomination process to be circulated in the coming weeks.
VTH is open to all volunteers that attended an event in 2023, as well as all incoming 2024 officeholders! If you've volunteered at a national or regional event, we would love to see you there. However, spaces are limited - in the event in which we receive more applications than we have spaces, current and incoming officeholders will be allocated first.
DETAILS:
When: Friday 24 November (from 1pm) – Sunday 26 November (until ~2:30pm, followed by the National AGM until and post AGM celebrations till late!).
Location: Camp Elsdon: 18 Raiha St, Elsdon, Porirua.
Recommended Donation: $20.00
Who: All 2023 volunteers, and incoming 2024 officeholders.
Registrations close at 11:59pm Sunday 29th October.

FINANCES
VTH has a recommended donation of $20. This goes toward food, accommodation, transport and activities for the weekend.
VTH flight subsidies are available for all attendees! We will be covering base flight costs - additional expenses such as luggage, flexible fares, food, carbon offsets etc. will not be reimbursed. You have a responsibility to reasonably minimise the cost of your flight.
Maximum reimbursements are as follows:
Flights from Auckland - $150
Christchurch - $200
Dunedin - $225

VTH is a chance to learn more about the operational and background administrative side to UN Youth – how do our financial policies work, or what kind of systems do we have in place to make registrations easier etc.
Learn lots of new skills
In the past, we have run workshops on a wide range of things, from finance, educational content writing, setting up events and registration forms on the website, and much more!

VTH is also a chance for the National Executive to say massive thanks to every single person that volunteered in UN Youth this year. The highlight of this is our annual National Volunteer Awards!

A lot of the people going to VTH will be incoming Regional Councils, Event Committees, and even potential National Executive members. This is your chance to become friends and put a face to people you may be working with throughout 2024.
