What is Regional Delegation?
Regional Delegation at AYD is one of the many ways we try to achieve regional equity at the conference. What it provides for participants is accommodation from April 12th - 16th, that’s from the day before the conference until the end of the conference. We provide meals throughout the duration of your stay, alongside supervision by a team of dedicated volunteers to ensure your time at AYD is as safe, exciting and comfortable as possible.
RD this year will be hosted at the Auckland City YHA, just a 15 minute walk away from the University of Auckland City Campus. Outside of conference hours our volunteer team has planned some fun activities to ensure you get the most out of your experience at AYD 2023. Further details about your stay will be emailed to you upon confirmation.
We especially encourage you to apply for RD if you would otherwise not be able to attend the conference without it. We understand that many accommodation providers in Tāmaki Makaurau are inaccessible for participants under the age of 18, so we hope RD will provide you with the chance to attend our event.
Who can apply?
Regional Delegation applications are open to all participants from outside of Tāmaki Makaurau, from years 9-13. However, priority may be given to those participants under 18 years of age given that they face the need for adult supervised stays at any accommodation providers.
