SUMMARY
Aotearoa Youth Declaration is held in Auckland, and in order to make the conference accessible to participants from all regions we organise a Regional Delegation. The Delegation is led by senior UN Youth volunteers who arrange group accommodation for the participants, alongside supporting them with travel arrangements and acting as a mentor and welfare officer for them throughout the conference. This creates opportunities for participants from all parts of the country to access AYD in an easy, fun and safe way.
The delegation will stay together at an approved youth hostel in Auckland City, within walking distance of the conference venue. As soon as they arrive in Auckland, their welfare needs will be looked after by volunteers with first aid certificates.z
Alongside the conference fee, there will be a regional delegation fee. This will cover all meals and accommodation throughout the conference. However, flights will need to be covered by each participant individually. There will be scholarships available by application to cover travel and conference costs.
If you have any further questions about Aotearoa Youth Declaration, our Regional Delegations or the application process, please send your questions to [email protected].
WHAT IS UN YOUTH?
UN Youth is a non-profit organisation focused on providing civics education beyond traditional classrooms. We involve youth in critical national and international affairs through immersive workshops and conferences. We aim to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship takes diverse forms, and UN Youth offers opportunities for delegates to develop their own active citizenship style.
Our work equips young people throughout Aotearoa to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders, understanding their global context and the links between local and global scales. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders attend UN Youth events, run by more than 150 volunteers across the country - dedicating many hours to engaging youth and growing the organisation.
