The flagship UN Youth event of the year is back for round two for 2022, but this time, IN PERSON!

We welcome rangatahi from the Canterbury region (or beyond, if you want to travel) to come to the University of Canterbury and take part in an interactive learning experience about international affairs and global politics.

So what is a Model United Nations? Essentially, high school students get the opportunity to represent a member state of the United Nations in a simulation of a United Nations General Assembly. This year our topics will be particularly relevant to youth. We try to make learning fun through workshops, activities and general debate to get students working together and problem-solving. This is the best possible event for you to attend if you have not been to a UN Youth event before!

There will be a $30 dollar fee to attend the conference in-person. The ticket cost includes morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. We have a number of scholarships available to cover the conference fee. Scholarships are intended to provide financial support to those who otherwise might not be able to attend the conference due to the barrier of cost. If this fee would cause any financial hardship or inconvenience whatsoever, please consider applying for a scholarship. Scholarship results will be released the day after registrations close (11th of September). If you are unsuccessful with your scholarship application, a payment link will be sent via email to secure your place if you still wish to come.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to email the Canterbury Regional President, Rana, at [email protected]
