Are you a passionate politics fan? Someone who wants to develop their public speaking, communication and critical thinking skills? Or simply someone who’s excited to try something new? No matter what, this is the event for you! UN Youth’s Canterbury Model United Nations is back and better than ever for 2023, being held at the University of Canterbury on the 3rd and 4th of April.
This year’s theme for CanMUN is UN+Invented. With constant technological innovation and the development of emerging technologies, the role of governments in regulating these new fields of inquiry needs to be considered. Through committee sessions and workshops addressing topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Green Energy and Genetic Modification, delegates will gain a greater understanding of these developing global issues. Even if you have no experience or knowledge of these topics, by the end you will certainly be an expert!
Delegate registrations are open to all highschool students, with no prior experience needed and scholarships available. As a delegate, you will be assigned a member state of the United Nations, researching, discussing, negotiating and debating their perspective on each of these topics with other students.
Register online here for delegates or if you are a tertiary student, register here to be a volunteer.
