What is Raise Your Voice?

Raise your Voice is an opportunity for high-school students to have hands-on experience with civics education outside of the classroom. As a participant you will have the opportunity to work with other students across the Auckland region to solve problems within their local communities.

Our theme is UN + Equipped. Our goal is to provide students with the tools and critical thinking to become active members of their communities striving for a better tomorrow.

This will be an inspiring weekend where you'll engage in interesting skills workshop rotations and hear from empowering speakers to develop communication skills and diversity of thought.

We encourage all high school students to apply for this event! Previous UN Youth experience is not required.  If you have a great idea for your community, we want to hear it!

The conference will be an IN-PERSON event held on the University of Auckland’s South Campus. This event will be held over two days from 9am-5pm, with breaks throughout, on May 14-15th.

Event Overview

Participants will engage in a series of skill workshops and work in teams to develop projects for local issues by utilising those skills from workshops.

Presentation Skills Workshop

This will be a fast-paced and fun actively-based workshop. With expert advice offered in speaking, and the opportunity for participants to do sample presentations on a variety of topics (may include improvised opinions and presentations on memes).

Social media campaign Workshop

The workshop will be based on how to use social media effectively to promote engagement. The workshop will be run by an experienced marketing professional who will offer you top guidance in online engagement and getting traction on your projects’ online presence.

Mental Health Workshop

Running projects alongside other responsibilities can be stressful and unnerving. Straight from psychological experts, you will learn how to run a mentally sustainable project, get tips on multitasking, working as a group and handling rejections from organisations etc.

Negotiation Skills Workshop

From the negotiation experts, the workshop focused on how to write submissions, funding applications, and reach out to the external organisations for sponsorship & collaboration. You will get templates and advice as to the best ways to slide into those potential sponsorships’ dms.

This event will be supervised by experienced volunteers and will be fully catered.

Registration is $35 for participants and you will be sent an invoice once you have been accepted to the conference unless you receive a scholarship. We encourage students from all different backgrounds to be a part of this event, and if financial assistance would make it easier for you to attend, please do not hesitate to apply for a scholarship.
