ABOUT THE EVENT
The Wellington Model International Court of Justice (WMICJ) is a one-day simulation
where delegates step into the role of a judge and decide an unfolding international legal case.
Held in the historic Old High Court, this unique experience brings together debate,
diplomacy, and critical thinking in the very place where real New Zealand legal history
was made.
On the day, they will:
Explore the complexities of international law by working through a live courtroom scenario between two countries.
Build your skills in structured argumentation, public speaking, and collaborative problem-solving.
Enjoy a guided tour of the Old High Court and hear from inspiring speakers working in law and international relations.
Whether you’re passionate about global issues, fascinated by the law, or keen to
challenge yourself in a courtroom setting, WMICJ is your chance to volunteer at an exciting, new event for UN Youth Wellington!

ABOUT UN YOUTH
UN Youth is a non-profit organisation that provides civics education outside the traditional classroom context. Through fun workshops and conferences, we engage youth in the most pressing affairs of their country and the international community. Our goal is to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth provides opportunities for delegates to develop their own form of active citizenship. Throughout Aotearoa, our work equips young people to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders who understand their global context and the connections between the local and the global. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event, run by a body of over 150 volunteers across the country who dedicate many hours of their time to engaging young people and growing the organisation.
