About the Role
Are you passionate about civics education or international relations? Interested in volunteering at a student-run event? Or just want to meet new people? Then come and volunteer as a conference assistant at Otago-Southland Model United Nations.
UN Youth is an organisation that focuses on providing civics education to high school students through events–such as Model United Nations conferences.Â
Otago-Southland Model United Nations (OSMUN) is the region's flagship event and involves two days of debate and engagement in global politics. This event is nothing without its volunteers and we’d love to see you join us in making this event special!
Volunteering as a Conference Assistant (CA) includes a variety of roles, so there’s something for everyone! To be a CA you must be 25 years of age or younger to volunteer at this event. But no experience is needed!Â
There'll be a training day for volunteers before the event (likely the 28th of March) that will give you a chance to learn more about your role at the conference and meet your fellow volunteers. Registrations are open now, so don’t hesitate to be a part of something amazing!
What is UN Youth?
UN Youth is a non-profit organisation focused on providing civics education beyond traditional classrooms. We involve youth in critical national and international affairs through immersive workshops and conferences. We aim to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship takes diverse forms, and UN Youth offers opportunities for delegates to develop their own active citizenship style.
Our work equips young people throughout Aotearoa to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders, understanding their global context and the links between local and global scales. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders attend UN Youth events, run by more than 150 volunteers across the country - dedicating many hours to engaging youth and growing the organisation.
