ABOUT THE EVENT

Join UN Youth Wellington’s High School Ambassador (HSA) Program for high school students. This is your opportunity to develop your leadership skills, connect with like-minded peers, and contribute to the development of events/programs within UN Youth!

Key points of being a HSA this year:

  • Challenging and inspiring rangatahi: Collaborate with our Wellington team and other ambassadors to promote events, influence UN Youth programs and foster communities within your school through in-school held Model United Nations.

  • Enhances Accessibility: We’re committed to ensuring that the HSA program is open to all delegates in the wider Wellington region, including lower North Island regions. This means more frequent online workshops, catch-ups, and special skills development training on organising civic events from scratch and fostering collaboration across diverse groups.

  • Hui gathering: If appointed, you will kick off your journey with a training hui at the beginning of the year! Learn about your role, expectations, and develop your skillset. Our training huis are not only informative but also really fun - a perfect opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow HSAs. After the initial training hui, there will be regular catch-ups happening in hybrid form, meaning you will be able to attend either online or in person.

HSA application will close 23rd of February, 11:59pm - Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! Apply now and be a part of a transformative experience with UN Youth Wellington’s HSA programme!

ABOUT UN YOUTH

UN Youth is a non-profit organisation that provides civics education outside the traditional classroom context. Through fun workshops and conferences, we engage youth in the most pressing affairs of their country and the international community. Our goal is to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth provides opportunities for delegates to develop their own form of active citizenship. Throughout Aotearoa, our work equips young people to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders who understand their global context and the connections between the local and the global. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event, run by a body of over 150 volunteers across the country who dedicate many hours of their time to engaging young people and growing the organisation.
