ABOUT THE EVENT
Join us for the Wellington High Schools Model United Nations on December 13th at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington. This simulation of the United Nations offers students the opportunity to engage in high-level diplomatic debate on issues facing our world. Whether you are a seasoned delegate or an eager networker willing to learn, this event will promise an enriching experience from networking with your peers, developing your public speaking skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of the diplomatic side of international relations.
This year's theme for the Wellington High Schools Model United Nations is “UN+Confined”, where we explore the history behind stolen cultural artefacts and how member states negotiate the return of these artefacts. The theme and content have been chosen by our High School Ambassadors. Delegates will be discovering how member states engage with indigenous people and helping them retrieve their stolen artefacts. In our world, diplomacy is challenged by the issues of stolen artefacts from indigenous people as this is erasing their histories and identities to a Westernised ideology. If you are interested in diplomacy, want to make new friends, and want to experience UN Youth, sign up today to secure your spot and be a part of the shaping of global diplomacy!

ABOUT UN YOUTH
UN Youth is a non-profit organisation that provides civics education outside the traditional classroom context. Through fun workshops and conferences, we engage youth in the most pressing affairs of their country and the international community. Our goal is to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth provides opportunities for delegates to develop their own form of active citizenship. Throughout Aotearoa, our work equips young people to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders who understand their global context and the connections between the local and the global. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event, run by a body of over 150 volunteers across the country who dedicate many hours of their time to engaging young people and growing the organisation.
