What does democracy mean to everyday Kiwis? What should it mean?
In our brand new regional event, delve deeper into Aotearoa’s government - learn how we as citizens can raise our voices, how our elected officials interact with our concerns and the ever-evolving political and legal system of New Zealand.
Our two day event will feature workshops, speaker panels, and debate sessions where you step into the shoes of the elected. Engage in fast paced negotiations to form the governing party; write submissions and learn how citizen submissions influence local and national policy-making; and debate the implications of a written constitution in the existing legal system of Aotearoa.
High school students are now invited to participate in this exciting conference as a delegate.
Any student no matter how experienced with UN Youth will be able to engage with and benefit from this event. We're keen to provide a space for students to discuss their lived experience and how you can enact change within your communities!
Please register through the linked form.
Applications close at 7:00pm, Tuesday 10 August 2021.
If you had any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the coordinator, Isaac, at isaac.rusholmecobb@unyouth.org.nz.
PLEASE NOTE: When applying you will only have 20 minutes to fill in your application form and there is a word limit of 400 characters which is around 64 words. We would recommend writing out your answers on a separate document and then pasting your answers in afterwards.
