ABOUT THE EVENT

Auckland Model United Nations 2026 is back and we’re looking for passionate and motivated young leaders to join the team behind one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest and most vibrant youth international diplomacy events!

Set to take place in March 2026, AMUN brings together hundreds of high school and university students for two days of debate, negotiation, and global problem-solving right here in Tāmaki Makaurau. AMUN is the flagship of UN Youth Auckland, where students step into the shoes of diplomats to discuss some of the world’s most pressing challenges. This event aims to support rangatahi to learn about international relations and diplomacy, build public speaking and critical thinking skills, explore different perspectives on global issues and connect with like-minded students from across Auckland and beyond!

We are looking for a Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to spearhead the direction of AMUN 2026. While prior experience is not required, it is ideal that applicants have previously attended a UN Youth event as a volunteer. The committee that Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator will lead is listed below:

  • First line of communication with delegates and conference assistants;

  • Works with the Finance and Logistics Manager to follow up on outstanding invoices from registrations;

  • Trains the media team to take professional photography during the event;

  • Is aware that their role may extend post-conference for up to 3 weeks.

Relations Manager

  • Seeks sponsorship and applies for financial assistance for the event from external partners with the Assistant Coordinator;

ABOUT UN YOUTH

UN Youth is a non-profit organisation that provides civics education outside the traditional classroom context. Through fun workshops and conferences, we engage youth in the most pressing affairs of their country and the international community. Our goal is to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth provides opportunities for delegates to develop their own form of active citizenship. Throughout Aotearoa, our work equips young people to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders who understand their global context and the connections between the local and the global. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event, run by a body of over 150 volunteers across the country who dedicate many hours of their time to engaging young people and growing the organisation.
