ABOUT THE EVENT

NZ MODEL UNITED NATIONS

2026 APPLICATION PACK - COMMITTEE

ABOUT NZMUN

The New Zealand Model United Nations (NZMUN) is UN Youth Aotearoa’s signature national conference, hosted each July at Victoria University of Wellington. Over four days, more than 300 secondary school rangatahi from across Aotearoa gather to debate international issues, develop their leadership skills, and experience the world of diplomacy firsthand.

Across four days of committee sessions, workshops, speakers, and socials, delegates step into the shoes of diplomats and experience the excitement of international diplomacy. NZMUN is more than just a conference; it’s a space for learning, leadership, and lasting friendships that extend far beyond the closing ceremony.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The National Executive will consult the Coordinator to decide on the specific roles of Committee Members. The Committee Members will fulfil their specific roles and work as a team to achieve NZMUN’s objectives. Typically, seven Committee Members will be appointed, although this is not definitive.

ABOUT UN YOUTH

UN Youth is a non-profit organisation that provides civics education outside the traditional classroom context. Through fun workshops and conferences, we engage youth in the most pressing affairs of their country and the international community. Our goal is to inspire young New Zealanders to be active, global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth provides opportunities for delegates to develop their own form of active citizenship. Throughout Aotearoa, our work equips young people to become informed, engaged, and critical New Zealanders who understand their global context and the connections between the local and the global. Annually, over 3000 young New Zealanders from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event, run by a body of over 150 volunteers across the country who dedicate many hours of their time to engaging young people and growing the organisation.
